Carrie is a seasoned business leader with a passion for the environment, particularly the impact of our food supply on the planet. Her expertise is in strategy and management. She spearheaded major greenfield CAPEX projects from inception to revenues. In 2018 in Hong Kong, Carrie Chan and Dr Mario Chin founded Avant. Avant’s biotechnologies offer an alternative method to businesses to produce meat and animal proteins in a closed system with stable and traceable output. Their end-to-end cultivated meat technology platform is applicable to different types of meat. The company’s pilot products are fish and marine functional proteins. Thanks to their technology, they can customise the nutritional profile of their cultivated fish while keeping them GMO-free, free from heavy metals, microplastics, radioactive contaminants, parasites, and antibiotics.
